It involves clocking out of a brutal 50-hour work week, walking past the corporate neon of Blockbuster, and stepping into the glorious, slightly dusty sanctuary of your local independent video store. You know the place—the one with the faded Predator poster in the window, the faint smell of stale popcorn, and a weekend special tape-rental deal that practically dared you to dig through the bargain rows.

​Back then, the mission was simple: hunt down the most beautifully, unapologetically awful movies on the shelf. And in 1986, Cannon Films delivered a holy grail of suspected cinematic disasters: Firewalker.

​On paper, Firewalker was Cannon's desperate attempt to cash in on the globe-trotting success of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone. ​I have never really liked this movie. The biggest issue for me is the main actor playing the bad guy; I just can’t buy him in a villainous role. I’ve always seen him as the good guy, and that’s where he belongs. Seeing him play the antagonist here just doesn't work for me, as I much prefer the roles where he’s the one saving the day.

​While I know it’s technically a "good" movie, and if you can wrap your head around him being the villain, you might enjoy it—I just can’t see it. It feels unnatural. It’s currently a new release on Tubi, so since it’s free, you can check it out for yourself, but for me, it’s a middle-of-the-road experience.

Nunca me ha gustado esta película. El mayor problema para mí es el actor principal que interpreta al malo; simplemente no puedo comprarlo en un papel de villano. Siempre lo he visto como el bueno, y ahí es donde pertenece. Verlo interpretar al antagonista aquí simplemente no funciona para mí, ya que prefiero los papeles donde él es el que salva el día.

Aunque sé que técnicamente es una "buena" película, y si puedes entenderlo como el villano, podrías disfrutarlo, simplemente no puedo verlo. Se siente antinatural. Actualmente es un nuevo lanzamiento en Tubi, así que como es gratis, puedes verlo por ti mismo, pero para mí, es una experiencia intermedia.

Jack Reacher: My Honest Take

​To be blunt, I don’t like this film. While Tom Cruise was great in the first two Mission: Impossible movies, this is a completely different story and it just doesn't work for me. I’m not a fan of the way he carries himself or the dialogue—I didn't find his threats or his delivery believable at all.

​It’s lucky that this is free on TV right now, because I certainly wouldn't pay to see it. Honestly, it felt like a waste of time. If you want to watch it because it's free, go ahead, but I wouldn't bother. You can’t like everything, and this one just missed the mark.

​The Plot

​The story begins with a sniper attack that leaves five people dead. When the suspect is caught, he refuses to talk, only writing down

 "Get Jack Reacher." Reacher, an enigmatic ex-military investigator, surfaces to look into the case. While it seems like an open-and-shut crime, Reacher teams up with a defense lawyer to uncover a deeper conspiracy involving a shadowy group that will kill to keep their secrets hidden.

Pour être franc, je n'aime pas ce film. Bien que Tom Cruise ait été génial dans les deux premiers films Mission: Impossible, c'est une histoire complètement différente et cela ne fonctionne tout simplement pas pour moi. Je ne suis pas fan de la façon dont il se comporte ou du dialogue - je n'ai pas trouvé ses menaces ou sa prestation crédible.

C'est une chance que ce soit gratuit à la télé en ce moment, parce que je ne paierais certainement pas pour le voir. Honnêtement, c'était comme une perte de temps. Si vous voulez le regarder parce que c'est gratuit, allez-y, mais je ne m'embêterais pas. Vous ne pouvez pas tout aimer, et celui-ci vient de manquer la cible.

​The Premise: Another free find, this time coming from Tubi. We’ve got a military man steeped in secret missions who decides to call it quits, only to have his world shattered when his sister is brutally assaulted by a pack of high schoolers. After seeing them laughing in the hospital, he decides to take matters into his own hands. He forges his documents, pretends to be a substitute teacher, and that’s when the real "education" begins.

​The Vibe: It’s a wild ride of nineties action and "surf drama" that feels incredibly dated and, let's be honest, completely unbelievable. But despite the absurdity of a mercenary running a classroom, it’s still a very nice, entertaining watch.
