Intrusive thoughts

Intrusive Thoughts: Volume One

You know when you’re just lazing around for the day, and something completely bizarre crosses your mind for no reason at all? It just turns a corner and runs wild. The question hitting me today—because apparently, I’m just a bit weird in the head—is about cannibals. Specifically, the ones historically found down by the Amazon River.

Do you think they have their favorite pieces, just like we do with chicken?

Think about it. You get people who prefer the dark meat, some who want the white meat, and others who scream, "I want the thigh!" But if you look at the anatomy of it all, no one would ever want the breast. On a human, that's mostly just fat, and having too much fat in your diet is never good for your health.

If a cannibal wanted a prime, juicy cut, they’d have to flesh out their options and go for the major muscle groups like the thighs or calves. That’s where the real meat of the matter is.

But if you want to know the ultimate, cult-favorite "delicacy" from history, it wasn't the limbs at all. It was the heart and the brain. Talk about a meal with a lot of heart! Though eating the brain was a bit of a mind-boggling risk, seeing as it could cause some pretty nasty neurological diseases. Definitely a case of a recipe mind-firing on you.

I suppose we just love to categorize everything we eat, so why wouldn't they have a preferred menu? Oh, it’s wrong. It’s so, so wrong. But hey, this is just what happens when my thoughts completely run away with me!
